Apple Raisin Bread Pudding 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk - scalded
  • 3 cups bread - cut into cubes
  • 2 cup chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter

 Instructions

  1. Scald milk in small saucepan. Set aside to cool.
  2. In sauté pan melt butter. Add chopped apples and sauté until soft.  Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl beat eggs, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon.
  4. Place cubed bread into a 2-quart casserole.  Pour raisins and sautéed apples over bread.  Pour scalded milk over bread.  Add egg mixture. Cover and let sit in your refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
  5. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven. 45 minutes to 1 hour or until custard is set.  Serve with vanilla ice cream or drizzle caramel sauce over bread pudding.
